hehe. True, but there do seem to be a surprising number of knee-jerk contrarians over there. I make it a pass time of outing them over here.

4 paragraphs of apologizing for being male doesn't count.

On the contrary. I was super critical of the author. I'll have to find the link. It will make more sense.

That's not really much different than the FP of Jalopnik, Kotaku, etc.

Oh, I don't know. Jalopnik FP is Busch League compared to over there. And the comments stack up fast.

Here ya go. Not exactly what you describe.

I mean, it also really depends on the article. Some articles just draw lots of troglodytes to them. You want to see a shit-show? Go read the comments for any article on Kotaku that touches on women's standing in the media and/or society. It's worse than Jezebel. Actually, I'd say the commentariat on the whole is worse than Jezebel. Jezebel is filled with hostility, but at least there seems to be a unity of hostility. Kotaku, on the other hand, is a giant free-for-all where everybody is both a pedant and your enemy.

I really have no frame of reference for Kotaku so I never spend time there. My life is full of awesome and powerful and wonderful and terrifying women so Jezebel find of fits the ebbs and flows of my life, too.

I'm generally more of an observer than a participant when it comes to comments (except around here and Jalopnik, because you guys are the best), but they all have some relevance to me. io9 is probably the friendliest, and I think that's because its primary subject matter is balanced among people from all walks of life. Who doesn't like a good movie, book, etc.?

Jalopnik FP is a lot different from any other gawker site especially gawker or jezebel
While they all have fights, people on gawker or jezebel will basically wish death on you for not agreeing with their viewpoints.

The title is the equivalent of a teenager shouting leave me the hell alone and slamming the door.
Jezebel, the site

I can think of several nameplates off-hand from the Jalopnik FP that do/have done the same, to say nothing of the burners. And I know that kind of thing at least as common on Kotaku as it is on Gawker and Jez. They even make threats to the authors.
Disclaimer: I tend to scroll really far down through comments and also read greys.

Has jalopnik ever said "all people who don't believe in the miata life should be arrested" though?
![]() 11/11/2014 at 23:20 |

Jalopnik as in the authors, or Jalopnik as in the commentariat? I've never seen the former and anything like it would be tongue in cheek. The latter, however, have said similar things about people liking American cars.

The authors. I think it was io9 who basically believes "agree with us or you should be arrested"
They posted an article saying "climate change deniers should be arrested" because apparently having a different opinion means you should go to jail for it.
Freedom? Nah

Hmm, I don't recall that one. And that actually sounds more like a cross-post than something that would originate on io9.
Unless it's Jesus Diaz. Maybe it was Jesus Diaz. We don't talk about him...

I'd look for it but I don't want to go back to any part of gawker, you can't make me

my first foray into jezebel commenting went well, I made a joke and it paid off.
